Shaker Tape Seat Colors

Shaker furniture makers frequently seated their chairs with "Shaker tape" or woven fabric as well as splint, rush, and cane.

Most original Shaker chair seats produced for the "outside world" after 1870 featured woven seats.

Shaker tape colors used for S. Timberlake chairs are 100% cotton canvas. Tape width is 1" and is included in the chair price. There is an upcharge for 5/8" Shaker Tape patterns.

A Note on CHERRY STAIN: Our stain may vary slightly from a reddish to a more brownish red tone. We typically mix our cherry stain to anticipate cherry wood's natural darkening process over two plus years. We do not guarantee our maple stained chairs will exactly match an oiled cherry wood table, but we believe our stain will blend nicely.We have mixed stains for hundredsof maple chairs and tables to blend with our customer's new or existing cherry furniture. The Shaker Maple Chair (below) perfectly matches an oiled and finished Cherry Shaker Table. We are always building our maple chairs to be placed around our cherry tables or set in kitchens with cherry cabinets. We mix our own stains to achieve this perfect blending of tones by considering the eventual change in the color of the cherry as it ages.
